The "Running" Fee

Ok, so it's time to do my favorite "client-turned-friend's" little girl, who just turned one, portrait session. When speaking to my friend, she has let me known on quite a few occasions, that this little one keeps her quite busy and on her toes.  Well, most mom's say that especially after they were blessed with "perfect child number one" syndrome.  But to say, she kept us on our toes was an understatement!!  We were both breaking out in a sweat!  We had to go back to her home, because there was just too much for her to look at in the park, and she kept running away from us.  Upon arrival home, her daddy greeted them, and mom began to tell him of the adventures at the park....his reply was.."she should charge a "running" fee instead of a "sitting" fee.
BAHAHHAHAHAHAH!! I went hysterical.   That was classic.  BEST one I've heard. I just loved it.
Anyways, this is what this little one did for most of the session...Blog2

After going back to her house, we did manage to pull off a few that really just captured her beauty and innocence.

*On a side note, I just wanted to thank all my clients who have sent expressions of sympathy in the loss of my beloved mom.  It is appreciated more than you know.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Miss Independence

Little Miss Independence has clearly become one of my most favorite little clients.  We are in year 3 of photographing her, and I am just amazed by her changes!  Year one, momma was concerned as to how the session would go, as she was very very shy and didn't know how she would react.  I was very careful not to "invade her space" and we got along just fine!  I couldn't believe it yesterday, that this little one not only lost all her shyness, but she was quite sassy!  Smart as a whip, with a vocabulary like a 5 year old, telling dad she wanted to do things by herself!  She was so cooperative, we had time for 3 dressing changes!!
She loved it!

Sometimes as I'm driving to my clients house, I have something envisioned that I want to capture.  I can remember as a child, my front lawn being covered in dandelions.  ( back then, you didn't have weekly landscaping services complete with pesticide/weed control)  I can remember those white puffy things, and trying to blow out the seedlings, as if they were candles on a birthday cake.  I wanted to capture the commonalities in childhood, so when you looked at it, you remembered your own (and how the greatest joy, is sometimes the simplest ones.)  Little miss independence, executed my plan beautifully.

Happy Mother's Day!

To all my little model's mamas!  Wishing you a day of love and joy with your best gifts of life!  I just have to post a little something that I loved today.  I always tell my kiddos that the best gifts they can give me are those "homemade" things that just mean so much to a mom.  I just love them more than anything materialistic.  So my 15 year old daughter made me this card...

"One day where you don't have to tell me to do "sum" thing twice."
Imagine THAT????  Holy Cow.  What a great day.  Love it.

And it wouldn't be Mother's Day, without a little update on Mom.  Losing weight, but still managing to be humorous.  I asked her to please put the wig on for the pictures, so she told me to throw it to her.  It was on the end table next to me.  I winged it across the room, and my father screamed  "that looks like something I'd shoot!!"  Thank God my mom can laugh at these things!

Sweet Sisters

These little girls were so sweet.  They are everything they appear...sweet, kind, innocent and precious.  Sisterhood is so very special and I hope the bond I captured here, last a lifetime.  The beautiful surrounding only complimented the beauty inside and out, that these girls shared.

Spring is in the air!

Well...maybe not, but it will be soon!!!  One of my favorite environmental portrait scene is a field  (or bed) of  daffodils, coupled with a little girl in a pretty white dress!  It doesn't have to be a communion shoot, any little cutey pie will do!  Typically I have found these flowers to be in bloom around the third week of April.  With the cold weather we've been having, it could be delayed!!  If you are interested in this type session, and you are already aware of any daffodil beds  (this could be in your own yard, or public park) give me a call!!  Because this is one of my absolute favorite environmental type shoot, I will give you a complimentary 11x14 with your photo session.  (a $75.00 value.)

Happy Spring!

Total Cutey-pies

I had the priviledge of shooting these two children last week.  To say they are just the cutest things in the world, is an under-statement.  The sister reminds me of another client's daughter that I shoot in looks, and another one in personality.  Shy isn't part of her world!!!
